EXTRA COMMUNICATION WITH THE PENINSULA.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE AKAROA MAIL,

Sir,—l c cc you have again brought under the notice of the public the benefit that would arise by altering the time table to allow the steamer to leave port for Pigeon Bay much later than at present. You also hope the inhabitants of tlie Peninsula '-will promptly take the matter in hand." Well, Sir, this new arrangement may suit yourself and the Akaroa people, including a few of the bays, but I believe such a change would be very inconvenient to the inhabitants of the outlying districts. People have plenty to do to get to their homes, without the loss of life or limb, before night, as it is; and if the altera-tion-was made which you suggest. I should espeet to seethe residents of French Farm, and all down that side the harbour, with Okain's, Laverick's, and Le Bon's Bays, protesting against the change.' These people have no coach to put them down at their doors, and surely claim a little consideration, as well as their nnre favoured neighbours. I am sorry, Sir, to seu that there i.« a tendency in the minds of the Akaroa people to believe that/their wishes must be complied with, whether it suits the outlying districts or not.' I should like to see the Akaroa Mail take up the interests of the Bays a little more, and not think go much that Akaroa embodies the whole Peninsula.

Yours, &c., MUD,
