A DISCLAIMER.

(to the editor of the akaroa mail.)

Sir, —In your report of the proceedings of the Akaroa Borough Council, as published in the Mail of May 23rd, I notice that Cr. Annand is reported' to have moved—" Tbat the Colonial Secretary and Mr. Montgomery be written to concerning waste lands." Now, Sir, as Cr. Annand never moved the above, neither did he pass his opinion on the subject, (in fact there w,as no motion on the above subject at that sitting of the Council), I am at a loss to know how that report was concocted. I suppose your reporter and the inimitable Sundowner were puzzling their brains, trying to make bad English out of good Scotch. By inserting the above in your paper you will oblige. Yours, &c, A BAILLIE.
