It is stated on good authority that the report circulated about a disagreement amongst the Ministers is absolutely in-

correct,

During frequent meetings of Cabinet, all the members being present, the Ministers have cordially agreed on the measures to be submitted to the House. Their bills and financial arrangements are in a forward state. . It is expected the financial statement will be made very early in the session, which will probably open on July 19.

The Government has for some time been in communication with Sir W. Jervois and Colonel Scratchley, with a view to obtain their professional opinion on the defence of New Zealand harbours. Latest advices render it most probable these officers will visit New Zealand after reporting for Victorian Government. The Governor, accompanied by Hon. C. C. Bowen, will leave in the Hinemoa, for Lyttelton, next Monday, the Governor to lay the foundation stone of Christchurch college. He will then return to Wellington in about a week.

The Taupo has arrived. She encountered very heavy weather, and had one boat washed from the davits, and damaged another.

The Eussians have placed Constantinople in a state of siege. 85,000 Russian troops are concentrated in Upper Roumania. The Danube, owing to the late rains, will probably be impassable before the middle of June.
