(Per Phess Agency.) DuNKDiN, April 16. Two cottages were burnt down at Caversham yesterday, the property of John Leger, and occupied by W. R. James, and Mrs. Lucas. On Saturday, the Supreme Court granted a rule, calling upon Joseph MacKay to show cause why he should not be committed for contempt of Court for ignoring proceedings being taken in connection with his bankruptcy in, the Supreme Court. Eoss, April 16. At the nomination for Totara to-day, Joseph Grimmond, John McGaffin, and Hon, W. Gisborne were proposed. The show of hands was in favour of GrimTOond, Poll demanded for McGaffin,
Lyttelton, April 16. Arrived—N.Z. Company's ship Opawa, Captain Mclnnis, from London, with a large complement of passengers. She left January 22nd. Nelson, April 16. A fire occurred this morning in Bridgestreet. Two small shops, (bootmaker and saddler) totally destroyed, also part of Coach and Horses Hotel burnt.
