London, April 11. Russia desires Turkey to reply to protocol before the 13th inst.
Greymouth, April 11
The first truck of coal from the coal pit Heath Company, was brought to town yesterday. Two trucks crossed Brunner bridge safely, but the third truck came to grief, the curve on the bridge being too sharp. This will be repaired, when bridge will be officially tested, and declared open. The coal is of splendid quality. Wellington, April 11. The Australia, with London mails of 10th March, left San Francisco on March 29. City New York, with March New Zealand mails, arrived at San Francisco on April 6th. Auckland, April 11. Zealandia arrived with outward Australian mails for San Francisco. Melbourne, April 7. Hike won hundred yards race against Selby, cricketer, easily. At a dinner to Mr. Fraser, M.P., the Minister of Lands warmly defended chairman of committees against charges of corruption. Ship Linguist, from Liverpool, reports one death from small-pox. Queensland, April 7. Thirty-six cases of fever admitted to the hospital during the month were fatal.
