Helen Denny sailed for London, Wednesday, taking cargo, wool, skins, and tallow valued at £65,764. including 2,932 bales wool.
Dunedin, Jan. 8.
Albion Company's ship Nelson, 98 days from London, with 39 passengers and 800 tons cargo has arrived. Wellington, Jan. 8.
At Supreme Courtthis morning, Thomas Coleman was sentenced to ten years for attempted murder of his wife. The Judge intimated that the sentence would probably have been for life, only that he got such an excellent character as a good husband, father, and citizen, from disinterested people. Prisoner said it was due to a bad wife and her bad relatives.
Owen Cummen was sentenced to four years for an attempted unmentionable offence. Judge said sentence would have been heavier, but for his youth. In case of Rudolph Lawrenta he was sentenced to eight years for rape. Steps are being taken to tiy the prosecutrix for perjury.
