LIBRARY NEWSPAPERS.

(to the editor of the akaroa mail).

Sir,—l wish, through you, if you please, to call attention to the extreme want of punctuality with which at least some of the Literary Institute's papers are supplied. I have seen more than a fortnight elapse after some of these papers were due before they made their appearance on the Library table. lam certain Mr. Librarian is not to blame. Will the Committee be good enough to look into the matter ? While on the subject of papers for the Library, allow me to urge on the Committee the necessity of a larger and better supply than is ncyw provided. I don't believe there library in New Zealand so f,V: y off for newspapers and periodicalL'-.tltftainly none that I have seen, andthes-. are a good many. There was some excuse while the Committee were short of funds; but as I understand they are now in a pretty good position, that excuse no more exists. There ought at least to be on our Library table, a Daily Times and the Witness, or one weekly, representing the principal cities in New Zealand, viz., Auckland and Wellington, not now represented. We should also have a standard magazine or two. Commending this matter to the consideration of the Library Committee. —I am, &c, A Subscriber.
