Dunstan District Hospital
The ordinary monthly meeting of trustees of the above institution was held at Clyde on the Bth inst. Present —Messrs Hutton (chairman), Edser, Barry, Cuthbertson, M'Manus, and J. Wilson. The minutes of the two previous meetings were read and confirmed. ■lnward correspondence. Letters from the secretary of the Alexandra Brass Band, enclosing £1 Is subscrip-1 tion, and from H. Lewis, Esq., assisttant engineer on the railway at Chatto Creek, enclosing £l, being part dues of two ex-patients.—Received. Application for a fortnight's leave of absence was granted to Sarah Wheeler, the hospital servant. The visiting committee reported everything being well in and about the hospital, and recommended that a wheelbarrow and rake be obtained. The committee were instructed to supply the articles required. The surgeon's report was read as follows: —Patients in hospital Ist October 3, since admitted 3, discharged during the month 3, remaining in at end of month 3. The patients admitted were from Matakanui, Hawkesburn, and Pembroke.—Received. The question of amounts paid by patients was discussed and the existing system not being considered satisfac tory, it was resolved—That in future for three days or any less number the charge be half a week, and for four days and over to seven a full week be charged, and that the surgeon be advised accordingly. The treasurer's report, showing a debit balance of £2OO 16s 3d (including October accounts £76 4s), was read and received. Accounts for salaries and supplies*for the past month (including £l2 2s 7d water supply) were passed for payment. The patients' register was gone through, and tbe secretary was instructed to intimate to some ex-patients that unless the amount of dues was paid or arranged for immediately proceedings would be taken to recover. In other cases the instructions were to take proceedings at once Messrs Pitches and Wilson were elected members of the visiting committee. Regarding the annnal election of trustees by the contributory bodies, the matter was left in the hands of the chairman and secretary. The meeting then closed.
