Volunteer Notes.
(BY " VOLUNTEER.") A Rifle match was held on Wednesday. 9tb Nov., between teams represeniiug the Civilians of Alexandra and the Alexandra Rifle Volunteers, and resulted in a win for the latter by 22 points, The conditions were seven shots, each at 300, 400, and 500 yds. The weather was very fair for shooting and seme good scores weie registered. Following are details : VOLUNTEERS.
The Volunteers winning the above match came as a surprise to a good many, myself included. It was very closely contested all through, and one and all seemed to be pleased with the day's sport. I trust that before very long we shall have the pleasure of meeting the Civilians again. Sergt. Phillips and South shot the best for the Volunteers, with 93 and 91 to their credit respectively; and Mr J. J. O'Kane, for the Civilians, put up 88. The corps has reduced their honorary membership fee from £1 Is to 10s 6d, and it is their intention, during the season, to arrange as many matches as they can for honorary members to compete in; and we would be very pleased indeed if all intending honorary members got their names on the list as soon as possible.
