SPOETING NOTES. [By "The Wanderer."] Ths stewards of the Alexandra Jockey Club are leaving no stone unturned to make their new course, on the flat above the town, one of the best up-country. A new track has been laid off, and men are now busily engaged in making necessary improvements to the course. A short time before the recent rainfall a large quantity of grass and clover seed was sown, and this is now coming up splendidly, It is intended to at once lay water on to the course, under pressure, from the Borougb mains ; and with the assistance of the irrigation that will thus be supplied, I have no hesitation in saying that before race-day the course will be everything that the most fastidious owner could desire. The Club has already gone to very considerable expense in connection with the course, and I trust the enterprise it has shown will be duly rewarded. The Spinner is now being trained in Dunedin, and I hope, for his owner's sake, that the trainer will be successful in bringing him back to his own form. Kremlin and his half-brother, Caveola (by Cajolery) have been leased by the well-known horseman, W. M'Naught, and to all appearances they are very backward in condition, and it will take him all his time to have them up to racing form this season. Occidental is looking very forward, but so far has failed to show any public form. Fancy, the heroine of many a keenly contested trot, and the mother of The Gossoon, has now joined the great majority. Mr J. M'Ginnis, of Cromwell, (a keen lover of the trotter), has purchased Jim Jim, and he will in future be trained in company with Young Liberty. Dick Patchen is now doing duty as a butcher's hack at Cromwell, but will be given a chance of distinguishing himself in some of the short trots. Liberty Patchen, the sire of Young Liberty and Dick Patchen, has been added to the lists, and is now doing duty as a utility horse on Earnscleugh Station. Black Weed and Charleville are now drawing sewing machines, The former is owned by a Singer agent. Felix now does duty amongst a team carting coal to the Cairntrodlie dredge, Patience is in foal to the Czar. Alf Inder is now training George M and The Gallant, and I think Mr Nieper has secured the services of a painstaking and serviceable trainer,
