Personal.
Mr F Eggington, our local postmaster, is as present enjoying a well-earned three weeks' rest. Mr K C O'Connor, from Dunedin, is the relieving officer. Mr and Mrs R Ross are at present absent from Alexandra, on a holiday trip to tin North Island. Mr G. F: Morrison, who for the past two years, has acted as accountant at the local branch of the Bank of New Zealand, has resigned his position in the service and intends to enter into sheep-farming pursuits in conjunction with his brother, near Tapanui. During his residence in Alexandra, Mr Morrison, by his never-failing courtesy and gentlemanly demeanour, has won the esteem not only of the bank's clients, but of the whole community, and he takes with him the best wishes of a large circle of friends for his future success; Mr F M Poynter, from the Cromwell branch, has been appointed to the position vacated by Mr Morrison. The following item from the." Grey Star " will be read with interest by the many Alexandra friends of the gentleman alluded to : 1 " Mr W Winchester, the popular teller at the local branch, has been promoted to Hokifcika, where he will succeed Mr Baddeley, formerly of this town. Mr Winchester is highly esteemed, and that he is recognised as an able officer of the Bank, is evidenced ! by his appointment to the responsible post to which he has been promoted.' Says the Greymouth " Arsrus ":—" Mr F Banks, the popular accountant of the Publio Works Department, has received information of his promotion and transference to Ophir, Otago, and that his place in the Greymouth office would be taken before the end of the month by Mr L Cabot, from the Dunedin-controlled section of the Otago branch. While sincerely and heartily congratulating Mr Banks on his deserved promotion, his many friends will deeply regret his departure from the Coast. Since his ad vent from Blenheim to Greymouth some two years ago, his never-failing courtesy and business tact and knowledge has made him a universal favorite with the many persons of divers stations whose business brings them into contact with Public Works officials. Socially, in connection with church, sports, and every branch and department of local life advancement, Mr Banks has proved himself to be an unassuming power and force, and one that will be much felt by his departure.
