Volunteer Notes.
The first competition for the handsome silver cup presented to the Alexandra Rifles by Mr H F Nees of Dunedin, was fired last Saturday, when a goodly number of competitors attended. The weather was rather unfavorable, a high wind militating against good shooting. Following are the highest scores:—

Major-General Babington may be expected to arrive in Alexandra, to inspect the A.K.V., about the middle of February.
