INVASION SJUEN OF EDUCATION WASHINGTON, Feb. 26. Professor Albert Einstein and 25 other scientists and educators said today that militarism had invaded United States schools and universities to an alarming degree. The group, in a report sponsored by the National Council Against Conscription, said that the Defence Department Avas making “systematic and well-financed efforts to penetrate and influence the civilian education and life of America.” It said that Defence Department subsidies for scientific and engineering research in universities tended to make these institutions think and act in the interests of the military. The signers of the report included Dr. William Tolley, Chancellor of Syracuse University, and Dr. Alonzo Myers, chairman of the Department of Higher Education, New York University. 1
