HELICOPTER SERVICE
/ CARDIFF TO JLIVEKPOOL (Rec. 11.10 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 27. What Is believed to be the world’s first helicopter’schedule passenger service will start operating between South Wales and Liverpool on June 1. Details were announced to-day by the chief executive officer of British European Airways, Mr Peter Wasefield. “This is something completely new,” he declared. “I might call it revolutionary. Even the Americans have not done it.” The service will be run between Cardiff and Liverpool at first, and will expand as the demand warrants. The helicopters will cruise at 85 miles an hour, and will carry three passengers. Mr Masefield said the helicopters would land at airfields. It would be at least four years before city landings could be made because a new type of helicopter would have to be designed. The return fare from Cardiff to Liverpool would be £5 10s. i
