DRUIDS’ LODGE
VALEDICTORY TO DISTRICT PRESIDENT
The quarterly, meeting of the Star of Ashburton Lodge, U.A..0.D., was presided over by A.D. Bro. J. Eifield. There was a full attendance of members.
The Grand Secretary reported that the Star of Ashburton Lodge had the distinction of having paid out the first maternity bonus .since this new concession came into operation. An amount of £2l 10s was passed in payment of sick pay. An invitation to a card and social evening from Success of Ashburton Lodge was accepted. District President W. A. Childs tendered his resignation as an officer of the Lodge, he having taken an appointment with the Church Army in Auckland. Members spoke highly of the excellent work Bro. Childs had done for the lodge, he having passed through all the chairs of office and recently been appointed District President for the No. S District. Good wishes for his future were tendered by the brothers present. In replying, Bro. Childs mentioned that he would always retain his interest in Druidism, and the work he had done in the Lodge had J)een a pleasure and would be of assistance in his future career.
Bro. D. J. Cunnington was elected to the fill the, chair of V.A. Bard, rendered vacant by Bro. Childs’s resignation. D.P. Bro. Childs then installed Bro. Cunnington. Lodge was then adjourned, and friendly games of bowls were played and supper served.
