ASHBURTON CLUB
ATHLETICS
HIGH JUMP RECORD BROKEN The breaking of the club high jump record by the junior athlete, B. Cam: eron, was the highlight of last evening’s athletic meeting, conducted by the Ashburton Amateur Athletic Club. The performance was all the more meritorious when it is considered that this event was held at the conclusion of the meeting, and consequently failing light, along with the rough takeoff, made conditions difficult for jumping. Cameron cleared the bar at sft. 7^in', which is three-quarters of an inch better than the previous record. Eleven competitors, the largest field this season, started in the senior 100 yards sprint, and the race was a very even one. Results were: —
