METHODIST CHURCH

BARING SQUARE MEMBERS MEET Tim annual meeting of members of the Baring Square Methodist Church was held last evening. The Rev. W. T. Blight presided. /After the chairman had noted some aspects of last year’s work, reports on various activities were given by representatives of church organisations as follows:—Church trustees, Mr K. G. Fowke; Youth Council, Miss D. Bishop: Church Guild, Mrs F. Pethig; Parsonage Guild, Mrs Blight, on behalf of Mrs N. W. Corbett; Missionary. Auxiliary, Mrs C. Hawkey; Evening Missionary Circle, Mrs W. J. Harold; Choir, Mrs K. G. Fowke, on behalf of Miss M. Cretney; and the Young Wives’ Club, Mrs Blight, on behalf of Mrs L. Cornwall.

Church officers for the ensuing year were then elected, comprising society stewards, representatives to the Ashburton Circuit quarterly meeting, sacramental stewards, overseas and home mission committees ‘and children’s home committee.

Mr Blight then spoke of the coming year’s work in the church, making special reference to the Home and Church year of the spiritual advance crusade and the 75th anniversary cele brations to take place in October.
