MAO LEAVES MOSCOW
CHINESE AMITY WITH RUSSIA LONDON, February 18. The Moscow correspondent, of the Associated Press says that the highest Soviet leaders list night attended a special farewell ceremony? for the Chinese Communist leader (Mr Mao Tse-tung) and the Chinese Communist Foreign Minister (General Chou Enlai). The ceremony marked the end of Mr Mao’s first visit to Moscow, during which China and the Soviet signed a 30-year treaty. Before leaving Moscow, Mr Mao said that Chinese-Soviet amity was based on mutual fundamental interests, and was “lasting, indstructible and unsliakeable.” Unity between the two peoples would influence not only their mutual prosperity, but also “the whole of mankind, and will lead to the victory of justice throughout the world.” A military hand played the Russian and Chinese anthems on the flagdecked station platform as the Chinese leaders boarded their train.
Foreign observers in Moscow believe that several Chinese technical experts have remained in Russia to complete the details of the Russian-Chinese economic agreement.
