RAILWAY POINTS OBSTRUCTED
TWO INCIDENTS AT PORIRUA (P.A.) WELLINGTON, FeTh’uary 16. One passenger train and three freight trains were delayed about 10 minutes this evening when a set of points at the south end of the Porirua railway station was twice interfered with. About 6.30 p.m. a fishplate (an oblong piece- of metal used for bolting rails together) was jammed between the south switch rail and the running rail. About an hour later seven large stones were put in the same place. ■ A train from Palmerston North was delayed while the first object was removed,' 1 and three freight trains were held up while the stones were removed.
There was little possibility of any serious damage being done by such actibns, said railway officials. When the points were obstructed it was shown on an illuminated diagram at the Wellington railway station.
