ACCUSED ACQUITTED
JURY DECIDES QUICKLY ■ T (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The jury hearing the trial for alleged receiving in the Supreme Court in Wellington yesterday indicated at the conclusion of the evidence that it was prepared to acquit the accused without hearing addresses. The judge entered a verdict of not guilty, and dischared the accused. Earlier in the sessions a jury had failed to agree over the same charge. The accused was Frederick Joseph Pearce (50) a baker’s labourer. He was charged with receiving a quantity of finecut cigarette tobacco, the property of Godfrey Phillips (N.Z.) Ltd., knowing it to have been, dishonestly obtained.
