TWO TRAMPERS MISSING
FRUITLESS SEARCH BY AIR TONGARIRO NATIONAL PARK AREA (P.A.) WANGANUI, Feb. 16. No trace has been found of two Auckland University College trampers, Russell Aitken, aged 22, and Brian Timmings, aged 18, who are several days overdue on a trip from the Waihohonui hut in Tongariro National Park to Rangataiki on the NapierTaupo Road. Both Hampers were reported. overdue on Monday when two of their companions reported to the police at Tokaanu that they could not be found. A Royal New Zealand Air Force Harvard left the Ohakea air station at 11 o’clock this morning to search for the missing pair but no trace of them was seen. Two search parties on land are out, one led by Constable R. Gardner, of Ohakune, and another by Mr T. Trout, warden of the national The missing men, with Messrs David Cooper and Athold.Crofeby-, also students from Auckland, set out on a tramp on February 4, The party split on February 9, Another search party led by the police is expected to leave from Hamilton this morning.
