GERMAN STEEL EMBARGO

CANCELLATION TO BE DISCUSSED BERLIN, February 13. Inter-zonal trade talks with a view to lifting the Western embargo on imports of steel to Eastern Germany will start in Berlin to-morrow. The export of steel to the Soviet zone was banned a week ago until March 15, except for orders in hand. It was claimed that the East Zone Government had overdrawn its credit limit of £1,311,800. In spite of German and Allied declarations to the contrary, Western political leaders interpreted this action as a counter-measure to the East German traffic restrictions.
