SINGALESE IGNORED

INCIDENT ON PLANE (Rec. 10.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. South African Empire Games athletes who arrived in Sydney from Auckland refused to speak to members of the Ceylon team travelling by the same plane. The South Africans, who' conversed among themselves in Afrikaans when they landed at Rose Bay, pointedly ignored the two Singalese who were in the plane. Oscar'Wijevesinghue, a medical student (22), a member of the Ceylon team said: “They were guarded and suspicious, and they did not mix. We had a lonely trip from Auckland. I like the Australians, because they think only what you are and not what colour you are.”
