MAYFIELD DISTRICT SCHOOLS

SUCCESSFUL SPORTS FIXTURE A very successful sports meeting was held in the Mayfield Domain by the Mayfield District Primary Schools’ group, schools competing being Anama, Carew, Lismore, Ruapuna, i Montalto and Mayfield. The programme began with the showing of a very instructive film “Learn to Swim,” followed by flat and novelty races for all age groups. Of further interest was the folk dancing display by all pupils, consisting of Lubin Loo, Bavarian Clap Dance, Durham Reel and Virginia Reel. The large attendance of parents enthusiastically showed their appreciation of the children’s efforts. The assistant area organiser for physical education (Mr Nightingale) was in charge, ably assisted by the teachers of the various schools.
