Arrangements for the more rigid enforcement of traffic regulations dealing with pedestrians and cyclists were announced to-night by the Hon. H. G. R. Mason (the Acting-Minister for Transport). The police will in future co-operate with traffic authorities by actively controlling the conduct of pedestrians and cyclists. lor the present, action will be directed to educating them in observance of the regulations. “Road accident statistics, ’ said MiMason, “show that during the three and a half months ended June 30 no fewer than 460 pedestrians and cyclists were involved in accidents with motor vehicles. Twenty-four were killed, 63 seriously injured, and 373 suffered minor injuries. The returns also show that in 92 of these cases pedestiians were guilty of breaches of the regulations' and in 133 cases cyclists committed breaches.”
