LODGE MEETINGS
THE JUVENILE FORESTERS. I Court Pride of Ashburton Juvenile Foresters met last evening, the C.R. (Bro. H. A. Ward) presiding over a large attendance. j The president reported that the management committee was endeavouring to arrange hospital benefits for members and hoped to have a report for the next meeting. Bros. Dobson and Bryan donated surprise packets for the next meeting, and it was decided to have a question box also. After the close of the Court a lantern lecture on fire-fighting and equipment was given by Mr H. Hefford, and proved very interesting and instructive. Mr Hefford was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. >
HAKATERE ODDFELLOWS. The Hakatere Lodge, 1.0.0. F., held its fortnghtly meeting last evening, when the I.P.G. (Bro. W. Barrett) presided. Sick pay was passed in respect of seven members. There was one proposal for membership. The half-yearly returns were adopted. Final arrangements were made for a card match with the Druids’ Lodge next Tuesday. An invitation to a card match on Monday, August 16, was received from the Foresters’ Lodge. The arrangements for entertaining the Daphne Lodge on August 18 were left in the hands of the Social Committee. It was decided to commence next ledge meeting at 7 o’clock. After lodge closed a social hour was spent.
