INTRUDER CAPTURED.
MAGISTRATE PRAISES TWO MEN. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. “The actions of Ralph Hogg and H. W. Patten were highly commendable, particularly in view of the activity of accused in hurdling fences, and they deserve the thanks of the community,” said Mr S til well, S.M., at the Magistrate’s Court in a case in which Bernard Eric Bothweli, a ship’s steward, was charged with entering the dwelling of Walter Frederick Sherwood with intent to commit a crime. The evidence was that Hogg heard a man in a flat above his own when he knew the owner was away for the evening. He called upon the intruder, who escaped through a window. Hogg pursued him over fences, and Patten, who had been summoned in the meantime, went out on to the road and made the capture. Accused, who pleaded guilty, was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
