FINE AND SUNNY AFTER FROST, After a frost of five degrees recorded at the (Domain -weather station this morning, conditions were early raw, the sky being overcast. The clouds disappeared at about 10.30 and sunny conditions prevailed, the temperature being warm with a light north-easterly wind. A point of rain was recorded after 9 o’clock yesterday morning. The maximum temperature yesterday was 46 degrees and the inside minimum last night 31.3 degrees. The barometer at 9 o’clock this morning had fallen tq 29.44 inches from 29.51 inches yesterday morning. Frost at Mount Somers. Fourteen degrees of frost were recorded at Mount Somers last night. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Ter Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather : General inference: A trough of low pressure, with centres to both north and south, is crossing the Dominion. An intense anti-cyclone covers Australia and extends on to the western Tasman Sea. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows : Moderato to strong northerly winds, but a change to southerlies probable by to-morrow morning. Weather cloudy and unsettled with rain, and on ranges snow. Temperatures becoming cold. Seas slight to moderate, but later rising.
