OFFENCE IN MAYFIELD DISTRICT 4 CRUTCHINGS WORTH £2O TAKEN. t Petty thieving, regarding which there has been a good deal of complaint in the past year, has been troubling Ashburton County farmers. All manner of small items have been reported as having been lifted from farms. The latest Statement is that about £2O worth of crutchings disappeared from a farm at Mayfield a few nights ago. The farmer placed the wool in his shed and the following morning there was no sign of it. Marks on the ground indicated that a lorry or truck had been backed up to the door of the shed during the night.
