THE ASHBURTON CLUB. There was another good attendance last evening at the Ashburton Miniature Rifle Club’s range, when the trophy donated by Mr A. E. Clarke was fired for and completed. The winner of the prize was D. Porter, who also secured the R grade liotty button. Scores: L. McNatty (8) 79, 80, 79, 80—326; T F. Smith (10) 78, 77, 78, 79—322; F. Porter (12) 77, 77, 76, 71— 313; 1). Porter (32) 74, 71, 76, 76—329; G. Cartwright (20) 74, 78, 74, 74 —320; R. Watson (18) 77, 75, 74, 71—315; G. Lusk (10) 79, 79, 78, 79—325- R. Childs (16) 75, 75, 78, 79—323; A. Etheridge (10) 77, 78, 79, 76—320; H. Shierlaw (8) 77, 78, 78, 79—320; A. J. Shepherd (8) 79, 79, 78, 79 —323; J. Welsh (22) 74, .68, 75, 69—308; R. Bramley i(10) 77, 79, 75, 74 —315; C. Goodfellow (20) 73, 75, 75, 75—318. The A grade liotty button was secured by L. McNatty with a possible (80). D. Porter’s score for the B grade button was 76.
THE MOUNT SOMERS CLUB.
At the weekly shoot of the Mount Somers Miniature Rifle Club on Tuesday evening the second shoot for the
No. 5 trophy was fired. Best scores were: J. Hepburn 80-73, G. A. Bland 78-75, Miss K. Bland 77-77, J. Gorrie 77-70, C. Stephen 77-76, L. Morgan 76, W. Reveley 76-75, S. Johnson 75-73, L. Hood 76, W. Stephen 75, T. Harris 74.
The Hotty Button was won ky Miss Iv. Bland after a shoot-off with C. Stephen and J. Gorrie.
Leading scores for the Woolmers Cup are: L. Hood 1169, G. Bland, Miss K. Bland 1168, J. Gorrie 1156; and for the Lincoln Hills junior cup, W. Revelev 1135, L. Morgan 1100, J. Hepburn 1090.
The W. N. Hood Memorial Cup (best 12 of first 16 handicap shoots) was won by L. Morgan 973, W. Reveley (971) being second, and Miss K. Bland, H Hood, J. Gorrie and L. Hood (966) equal third. A team will visit Rukaia next Monday and shoot for the County Shield, and on the following Saturday a friendly match will be fired with Methven. At the next weekly shoot a postal match will be fired with Waiau.
fHt WILLOWBY CLUB. At the weekly shoot of the Willowby Miniature Rifle Club, held on Monday evening, a trophy presented by the Para Rubber Company was won by J. Maginness. Following are the scores: J. Arnst (5) 76, 79 (3) 79, 73, R. Mackay (4) 79, 75, T. Whearty (5) 74, A. Houston (5) 74, J. Maginness (8) 72, 77 (5) 78, 72, E. Harper (7) 68, K. Knox (10) 76, 66, D. Killey (5) 78, 76 (3) 76, G. Maginness (7) 72, G. Wesley (8) 65. R. Mackay won the shoot off for Mrs Maginness’ trophy for runner-up in the John McGee Cup. Scores were: R. Mackay (4) 79, K. Knox (12) 70. The Hotty Button was won by. R. Mackay with 79.
THE DORIE CLUB. The Dorie Miniature Rifle Club held its weekly shoot in the Ardamine Hall. B. McKie won the No. 9 trophy and M. Scott the club’s cash prize. The scores were as follow: C. Scott (4) 66, 67, 64, L. Kingsbury (scr) 70, 69, B. McKie (5), 65, 65, 66, M. Scott (2), 68, 69, 66.
