WRESTLING.
MoCREADY BEATS WESCOTT. WANGANUI, July 27. Earl McCready secured a poj uts decision over Norman (“Rusty”) Wescott, who • was making his first New Zealand appearance. Each secured a fall. The bout had a spectacular opening when Wescott came out from his corner and sent McC'ready to the mat with a flying tackle to secure a fall with a surfboard at 15 seconds.
In the following rounds Wescott dominated, making McCready work harder than ever before in New Zealand. Wescott proved himself a popular showman, and the possessor of a wide variety of holds. McCready was on the defensive, and took severe punishment. McCready secured his equalising fall in the sixth .round with a body press after two dumps.
McCready had slightly the better of the last two rounds, and although both men made a determined effort for the winning fall, McCready was awarded the verdict with a slight margin of points.
