THE D.C.L. TROPHY.
ANNUAL MATCH AT METHVEN. WIN FOR THE GUN CLUB. At the Metliven Gun Club shoot on Saturday there was a .large attendance. Shooting conditions were not of the best owing to the strong north-west wind. The principal event was the annual shoot between the club and the Methven Miniature Rifle Club for the D.C.L. Challenge Shield. This match was first fired over the Rifle Club’s range on Friday evening, and followed by a 12-bird clay match over the traps. The conditions of the latter are that each shooter is allowed two and one points respectively for first and second barrel performance, the Gun Club being allowed one point a yard for the handicap behind the Rifle Club’s 12yds mark. The Gun Club won by 57 points 6ver both shoots. For the best aggregate over both matches, W. M. Holland with 97 points, was the winner of the Gun Club’s Trophy and R. L. Haskett, in a shoot-off with J. Manning, with 92, won the Rifle Club’s Trophy for second. < At the close of the match Mr J. E. Carr (captain of the Rifle Club), in handing over the shield to Mr Corbitt, congratulated the Gun Club on its win. Details are: Inter-Club Shoot, D.C.L. Shield. ' 12 clay birds. Gun Club (16yds)—

Fourth shoot, with sweepstake.
In a first-miss-out sweepstake, T. S. Harrison was first, E. Ward second and S. H. Anderson took third money.
