A CONSTABLE EXONERATED.

WEI>LIXGTON } Sept. 22. Last session the case of a Greymouth constable. Peter .Mdlorey, was discussed, a suggestion being .made that lie was disniissed-from the force on an iintrue charge. Consequently a. commission, consiscinji; ol' Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M. (cluunniin), Mr • Herbert Crowthor and inspector Norwood was set up to inquire into certain charges of misconduct which led to Moloney's dismissal.

The Cpinmi-'ifiion luis furnished its-re-port as follows: —"After hearing evidence we are of opinion that Moloney was not guilty of the charge so alleged as'i-insfc him. Tho only presumption of guilt on his p*.trt was contained in the fact- that during a Departmental inquiry before Inspector Phair"Moloney refused to submit to tho'jurisdiction of that tribunal or take any steps to establish his innocence, because he considered, quite wrongly in our opin ion, that Inspector Phair was biased against him, and on that account demanded anothor,■■■tribunal to try him. He want so far tvs to deliberately suppress evidence that if produced there and then would have completely established his innocence of the charge against him. This conduct, was highly reprehensible, and bmid&s has been the cause of great, trouble and misunderstanding to all roneerncd."
