POST OFFICE SAVINGS BANK.

DEPOSITS AND ..WITHDRAWALS

WELLINGTON, September 22. The Post Office Savings Bank deposits for July totalled £1,392/198, exceeding, the withdrawals by £372,759. In August the deposits were £1,353,908 and the withdrawals £1,668,011, the withdrawals tlrns exceeding the dei posits by £314,103. For the first days of Soptember tho withdrawals exceeded the deposits by £214,852, These heavy withdrawals, it is pointed out, were made during the period ', that the war loan was open for sub- [ scription, and in view ; of the fact that ! approximately £10,000,000 sterling had ' been raised in tho Dominion, it is con-

sideved remarkable that the savings bank finances are so slightly disturbed.
