Rakaia and Hinds Sales.

Meat's 'Miles':and"Company, Limited, report on the monthly stock sales at Rakaia an 4 Hinds qn 23rd and 24th instant respectively :— Th,e opening sale at the new public yacis at Rakaia was held on Thursday last, tlje entries brought forward being 3914 Sheep, § head of cattle, 42 pigs, and 5 horses. The attendance was unusually large, and although bidding was somewhat listless we Bucoeeaed in disposing of our entries, with tji3 exception qt a Une of aged merino ewes for which class of aheep owner's ideas were not met. We sold—l 37 crossbreds, lls 2d ; 36 fat merino ewea, 9s \ 335 first-cross lambs, lia; 38 fat merino ewes, fjs 9d. 1 ram, 22 gs. Draught horse, s\x years, £15; Cow, *3 12s j and also the usual sundries. At the Hinds on Mopday, 27th instant, there was only a moderate gathering of the public, and business was not of an animated character, resulting in several lines being withdrawn. Ofthe3ol9sheep u^mtted 1747 changed hands under open competition at satisfactory rates, and after the sale other lines changed hands at prices under owners' former reserves Two and four-tooth crossbred ewes made from 12s lOd to 14s 4d ; old crossbred ewes, 9s 5d to 5s 6d ; aged merino ewes, 3s 6d, 4s 9d, and 10s j crossbred i»mbs, gs lid. and lla, i ■
