At the opening of the Presbyterian General Assembly, delegates from Auckland, Hawke's Bay, Wellington, Wanvanui, Nelson, ChrUtchurch, Timaru, Weatland, Otagi, and Soathland were present. liev W. Gillies, Tinaaru, was elected moderator, vice 'Jr Klmslie. Mr Gillies briefly addressed ihj assemblage on the policy of the church, and referring to the liquor craflic urged its abolition, and warned the people against gambling.
