HORSE MARKET

Mr T. Bullock reports for the week ending Saturday, May 25th :— 3O horses were brought forward for the day's sale ; amongst them were a few useful aged draughts, but no really first-o asa young heavy draughts wbioh are sought after ; the remainder were mostly interior. It is a well-known faot that any really first* class horses that are brought m for sale, whether draught?, light harness horses, or hacks are always taleab'e at remunerative prices Not only should farmers be more careful m breeding but m rearing young stock. Nearly all the first-class draughts required have to be brought here from Otago or Southland. Surely they can be bred here as well as m tbe South.

Ont of the day's entry of 30, 14 were sold at the following prices vis. —Medium draughts £10, £11, £11 10s, £11 16s, £14 6s, £14 10s, up to £17 10s ; light harness horses, £4 10s to £8 ; backs, £4, £4 ss, up to £7 ; inferior, £1 53 to £2 15s.

Sundbies. — MoOoimiok reaper and binder, £37 10s ; Treb e-forrow plough, £9 10s ; set of harrows, £65* ; ditto, £2 ; drays, £3 15s, £4 ss, £5 15s; spring trap. £15 ; shed for removal, £17 ; small building, £9. Plough chain}, leading and shaft harness, horse covere, &o, at market rates.
