THE GERMAN COLONIAL POLICY
« ZANZIBAR AND SAMOA. (Fxb Pbxss Association.) Bkrun, January 16. In the Reichstag yesterday the German colonial policy came under review, although the debate m.s chiefly directed to proposals m connection with the .East African Company. The criticism of one of the members greatly incensed Prince Bismarck, who declared that such criticism was unpatriotic, and would injure Germany's prospects m the parleying that was going on with England on certain disputed points. Bismarck said that it was impossible at present to liberate all slaves m Zanzibar, but their object was to put a stop to the slave trade m that country* Referring to remarks made m connection with Samoan affairs, he contended that the German colonial policy was not to be abandoned because of the errors and sacrifices that had been made at the onset. When the official reports as to what had taken place m Samoa came to* hand, the German Government would decide what action to take. - .
