THE DROUGHT IN NEW SOUTH WALES.
The "Sydney Morning Herald" givea the following description of the state of things m the Oobar district : — " No words 60 old describe the horrorß of tbe situation through the whole of this district, nothing approaching it has ever been kaown within the memory of the oldest resident, On all sides is presented a ecene of utter desolation, to Bay nothing of black ruin ; and for three blocks of this wretched desert the Goverrrnent make us pay a rent of nearly £600, and yet every improvement on the place has been made and paid for by us. The frightful suftvring tmd distress all around us are moot depressing, travellers lc&vicg their poor horses to their fate, to a most mlrerable ending, their eyes being picked ont by the orowa before they die, and the men themselves having all they can do to get water. Dried tanks, dead and dying sheep wherever you go, and the heat of Biimraor rapidly approaching. If rain does not come aoon I can only say God help us, for I don't know what we will all do. The loss of stock between here end tho Darling alone must be tremendous, and there m little hope of any increase next year, an the *heep will not be In a tit oondltion. The state of the country requires to be seen to be believed."
