LONGBEACH ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Longbeaoh Road Board was held on Friday, Ootober 12, at 2.30 p.m. Present— Memra J. Williams, S. Holland, and J. Shearer. la the aboenoe of the Chairman Mr J. Williamo was voted to the chair. CORRESPONDENCE . Correspondence wai reaa— (1) From the Paymaster General advising the Boa id that the balance of mbaidy for 1887 8 had been plaoed to the cr.dit. of the Board (2) From Coramioeioutr of C:own Lands advising the Board that the sam of 11s 4d had accrued on deferred payment aud perpetual le^ee J*ndß m the dlßtriot, and Informing the Board that the Aahburton Connty Council intended to make applioatlon for the amount paid over to that body towards the construction of water races. It was reeolvid to oonour with tho action takea by the County 0 mnoll (3) From Mrs A. H iwkins asking the Board to take up culvert &nd puc ford m lieu thereof opposite her property on the Longbeaoh road. The Surveyors were instructed to report on the matter.
TKBBA JC ROAD. k petition w»a read from a number of ratepayers asking HiatTsrraoe ro»d should be farmed. Me Williams Interviewed the Board la support of the petition. The Surveyors, with Messrs Holland and Shearer, to Inspect tbo road and t \t they thought fk to oali for tenders for next meeting DKFUTATION. Messrs Manson and Stoddart waited on the Board and aaked that a bridge should be pat over Gall's creek. After a long dUousslon It waa deotded, aa there was not a full meeting, to let the matter stand over tlil next meeting. OHATMOS ROAD. Mr MoKay waited on the Board with reference to the* deviation of water on the Ohatmosß road, Left over till next meeting. GOKSE ON ROADS.
It was resolved to notify Ms John Woods, the ocoupier of land fronting on Terrace road, to have the gone grubbed off th B land at once.
After passing accounts the Board adjourned.
