'♦ The following is the Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday, Angußt 23rd, 1888:— Our London cables again show an upward tendency m that market, whioh has had the effect of firming our local prices. Want of tonnage, however, is muoh felt, and holders m oonaequenoe cannot obtain the full benefit of the rise. Wheat.— There has been a fair demand during the week for prime shipping lines, and all Tusoan offering at 2s lid to 33 are quickly secured. Pearl has a good local enquiry at 2s lOJd to 2s lid. Hunters has also been sold at 2a lOd to 2a 10£ d. At the time of writing the quotations are firm. Chicken wheat remains at last week's quotations. Oats.— An average business is being done at last week's quotations of 2s Id to 2s 2d for prime milling ; Is lid to 23 for heavy feed ; Is 9d to Is lOd for sparrow bills and Danish. Babley. — With the exception of a few seed paroels little business has been transacted, and prices remain at last week's quotations. Beans and Peah are unaltered. ctsass Seed. — A fair business is being done m small lots of machine-dressed for spring sowing at prices varying from 2s 6d to 3s. Farmers' undressed lines are rather dull of sale at 23 to 3s. Oocksfoot is quiet at 3£d to B£d for heavy olean seed, and 3d for second quality. Potatoes are selling at 47s 6d to 50s at country stations. Dairy Pboduce.— Butter is m fair demand at lOd to lid for prime lines, Oheese is quiet at 3d for large, up to 3Jd for ohoice lots of loaf shape. The above prioes are those paid to farmers for delivery f.o.b. saoks extra.
