Only part of the report had heen considered when the meeting adjonrned, a resolution to the following effect having been agreed to : — The Waterworks Engineer's sarvices to be dispensed with, salt and fresh wateT. baths to bo leaßod, the Mayor's salary to be reduced from £300 to £200, fireman at the Ponsonby reservoirs to be dispensed with. The C'aamber of Commerce adopted ' resolutions to day m favor of Mr Vaile's proposal for the leasing of the railways as submitted to Government. The resolution was telegraphed to fir G. Grey and Messrs Mitohelson and Peacock: Wellington, Anguut 23. In the Divorce Court the decree was made absolute m the case Henley v Henley. In the case of Friberg v Friberg, the husband's petition for divorce, a decree nisi was granted. Dxtnedin, Angnit 23. A nuirber of boys were found guilty of stealing various articles to-day, and In most oaeca were committed to the Indus - trial School. Sarah France, a secondhand dealer, was charged with receiving some of the articles. The Resident Magistrate said ho was satisfied the •ceased was conscious she was committing an offence when she bought the things. If there had been any prevlons convictions he would imprison her without a fine ; as it was, he imposed a fine of £10. He said if there were no receivers, there would bo leas theft.
