CORN EXCHANGE.

The following is the Corn Exohange report for the week ending Friday, Aueust 3rd, 1888:-

London oablea during the week have had a hardening effeot on prioes looally, but no oomparative rise has taken plaoe. This is mainly owing to the great soaroity of tonnage. All the available space haa been arranged for. Other negotiations, however, are likely to afford a better supply.

Wheat— Tuscan. All available haa been taken up at 2a 9d to 2s 9Jd, and holders now ask 2b lOd. Pearl has a fair demand, ohiefly for looal millers, at 2s B£d to 2s 9d. Hunters sells readily at 2s 8d for prime quality. Seoond quality lines vary from 2a 6d to 2a 7_A and ohioken wheat from Ib lOd to 2s 4d. Gables during the next day or two may materially alter the above quotations. Oats — A limited business is being done. Prime milling oommand 2a to 2a ld ; ehort heavy feed, la 10d|to la lid, and inferior and long descriptions from Is 8d to Is 9d.

Bablex— But little business is being done m this oereal. Maltsters are well supplied and only a moderate business is being done m malt. The few holderß, however, are not prepared to lower their prioes whioh still stand at 4s to 4s 3d ; second quality is negleoted at 3s 3d to 3s 9d. Feed is hardly saleable.

Beans are worth 2s 6d to 2s 7d. Peas, 2a 2d to 2a 3d for feed and 2s 6d to 2a 8d for Prussian blues.

Grabs Sebd— A few sales are being made for spring sowing, Maohine-dressed at 2s 9d to 3s ; Farmers' lots (not dressed) 2a to 2s 3d ; cooksfoot good heavy Beed iB wanted at 3|d to 3£d ; second quality is dull at 3d. Potatoes— Sydney quotations are barely as high as a week ago ; prioes here, however, are still rising 45a to 47s 6d being paid at oountry stations for forwarddelivery. Dairy Produce— Butter has again been m better demand and prioes are firm at 9d to sga is? s^*attfeisaft?ft»jg to The above prioes are those paid to farmers for delivery f.0.b., saoks extra.
