SOUTH RAKAIA ROAD BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Thursday. Present : Mesßra Mulligan, Turner, Lyttelton and Slrlnefellow.

It waa resolved tbat the Chairman Interview the Land Board about tbe Village Settlement funds. METALLING, Mr S trlntjfellow moved, and Mr Coster Beoonded " That the Great South road from Bosb' corner to the level oroßalng at Ohertßey be metalled and blinded, and the aides reformed, and that tenders be called for the work."— Carried. POUNDKBEPER The Chairman reoelved extension of time to report re poundkeeper'a bond. OFPIOE HOORS It waa resolved that the Clerk be requested to attend at the Board's offioe on Monday a from 11 to 1 and on Thursdays from 2 to 4, and that the aame be advertised m the ABhburton "Mall," CORRESPONDENCE, Correspondence waa reoelved from the Property Tax Oommlaslone>r enclosing form of declaration re subsidy for filling In. — From ratepayers re flood waters on Railway Terrace, eaat. — It was resolved to enlarge the culverts on the road complained of. MISCBLLiNEOUS. Mr Broadbent applied for a footpath ln Dunford stree r. The Clerk waa Instruoted to have the work done. Mr Cronln, oontraotor for the Boundary road, complained that owing to the gorse roots opposite Rule's fences he oould not plough and finish hia oontracb. The Clerk waa instruoted to reply that the responsibility of doing the work laid with the contraotor.

Mr MoMillan reoelved permission to make a water race oroasing on Duncan's road, on the uaual conditions.

Mr Cronin wrote ro hllla on- Village Settlement roada and offered to reduoe aame for a oertaln sum. — It was reaolved that tenders be called for the work.

Mr Brimtaombe wrote asking appointment to overlook tho tree planting. — His services were not required. A petition trom ratepayers m the Kyle distriot was reoelved asking fcr roada to be tusßOokod. — Moved by Mr Mulligan and aeoonded by Mr Lyttelton, *' That tender* be called for tui.__ooi-.lng 12 feet on the centre of tho town end of Chertsey road and two roads leading to Kyle, tenders to be In by middle of month."— Oarrled .

TENDERS.

A number of tenders were reoelved and the following acoept ed :— Maintaining roada east of the Railway foe twelve months, M. Sheehan £99 ; maintaining road west of railway for twelve months P. Collins, £48 10s.

rAVMBNTS

Aooonnta amounting to £93 18s 6d wore passed for payment and the mooting adjourned.
