(P3R PBESS ASSOCIAIION.) Wellington, May 10 The following are the vital statistics for the coloDy for the month of March, 1888 ;

The deaths of persons not residents of boroughs occurring at hospitals have been excluded ia all cases. The total birthß In the above boroughs amounted to 449, against 543 m February, being a decrease of 12. The deaths m March were 145, a decrease of 59 on the number for February. Of the total deaths males contributed 80, and females 65. Seventy-four of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 51 03 per cent of the whole number. Fifty-eight|of these were under one year of age.
