The fields for Thursday's meeting will all be large and sport and good racing may be confidently expected. The Ashburton Band has been secured to play on the ground and given a fine day there oan be nothing else to be desired. The Mayor has declared a half holiday for the occasion, and it will be generally observed. The Club this year have met with every suocess so far in their efforts to provide a good day's sport for the district. The Club certainly deserves the success which has bo far waited upon it as the members have gone the right way to work in securing success. The programme has been widely circulated, the stakes are liberal and the arrangements for the convenience of visitors are very complete.. There will be first olasa musio on the lawn, and refreshments will, be provided by well-known caterers for both sexes, but particularly for ladies and families.
