At the wool sales to-day a catalogue of 6900 bales was submitted. The auction was steady, and the demand throughout for all descriptions of wool* fine to finest, raiher firm, but inferior to fatuity lots filled one halfpenny to one penny per pound below t!?e prices obtained at last sales. Melbourne, Deoember 1; The New Zealand -Loan and Mer- • cantile Agency Company, l.imited, beid their usual weekly sale to-day, when 6000 bales were offered at auction, of which 41 15 found purchasers. There was a mil attendance of buyers, and competition was good, but medium to inferior wools ruled easier m sympathy with telegraphic reports received regarding the London sales. Good wools were unchanged m value, greasy merino is worth lo^d per lb, crossbred io^d, lambs' wool is o^d. No superior Scoured was oflered, but best scoured realised as much as is o^_a per lb, washed fleeceß is ij^d. j The New Zealand Loan and Mercani tile Agency Company, Limited, has received cable intelligence as follows, dated London, 29th November : — Wool — The sales progress firmly, although there is much irregularity m the bidding.
