AUCTIONEER'S REPORT

Mr Peter Williams (for Frledlandoi Bros.) report* for the weak ending Tuesday, 29th November, 1887 :—

On Siturday, the 26th inst., we held our weekly sa'e of! horses at o.»r East Btreet Horse Bazaar. There waa a fair entry, with an average attendance of farmers and others, but bidding was very dull, and few sales effected. Good harness mare £11 10s, and aged horses at low priooa. Produce. — Dements, 2s 9d to 3s 3s per bag , oata, la 6d per bushel ; fowls' wheat, 7s 6d per bag ; brnn, 4a 3d per bag ; flour, 18s 6d per bag ; oatmeal, 2a 9d bag ; peas, 2s 9d per bushel ; tea, 12s 6d per box ; cheese, 2d to 3d per lb. Harness, furnitare, and sundries at fa r prioes.

At the Ashburton yarda on Tuesday, the 29 th inst., about 2500 Bheep and 35 head of cattle oame forward. The prices on the whole showed an upward tendenoy, all lines being sold with, the except on of two poas of fat sheep. Fat crossbreds (shorn), 7s 6d to 10s ; stores (4-tooth orosabrede, ia tbe wool), 8s 9d ; balfbred hoggots, m the wool, 6a 2d, 6s Bd, 7s 10d, 9a 2d ; 4-t olh crossbrodß (shorn), 7b lid ; ewes and lambs (m wool), with about 100 per cent of lambs, 8s 6d, 9s 9d ; do, shorn, 7s. We also sold privately 500 crossbred hoggets, shorn, at 5b Cattle —The demand for cattle of all descriptions was very poor. Fac heifers, £3 to £3 ss ; cows m milk, but m low condition, £3 ; 18-months-old steers, 345.
