CONCERT.
A ooncert In aid of the funds of the High School Cricket Olab was held m the Oddfellows' Hall last evening. There was a very good attendance, «nd the oonoort passed o£E moit suoaeßsfally. The first item was a piano duet by Miss Barr and Master R. Oartis, which was followed by a song given by Mr Thomas, who had to respond to a vociferous encore. Miss Ktdd gave " The Last Master " In her usual excellent style. The next item was s quartette, "Tho Carnival," atang by Mesdamea Williams and Denshiro, Messrs Brooka and Thomas, and the audience insisted on a repetition. Miss GifLrd sang "Pelrrot," an Item which was very miuh appreciated. Mr Simpson sang the " Mtdshtpmlte," and Mrs Crisp " Tho Kingdom of Love," both Items being loudly applauded. The first purt was brought to a conclusion with the song, " Cleansing Fires," given by Mm Williams with ranch aw&etneaa and expression. In the nooond part some of the performers, who were announced In the programme to appear were unavoidably absent, bat their plaoes were ably filled by other ladles and gentlemen who kindly gave their assistance. Miss K(dd contributed a song In very pleasing style, and was warmly applauded Mrg Cuthbertson made her debut m "Ah ChoJa Morto," and although somewhat nervous, created a very favorable impression. Mr Williams waa encored for hij aoag, v Trusty as Steol," which was excellently given. Mr Simpßon Bang "Anchored ' very well. Miss Denshire was m good voice, and received a unanimous encore for her song •• Birdie." Iho duet, " Hear mo Norma," by Mrs Williams and Miss Gifford was eung excellently, Mr Horace Gates contributed a comic song, "He's the man for me," tho last two veraee of which oontained a reference to the Mayoral election, and c:nsequently created much amusement. Most of the accompaniments were played by MiBS Eidd, Mr Kneen attending to tho othera. At the conclusion Mr Buchanan, the master of tho High School, m a few remarks thanked tho porformora and audience for tho support which they had accorded the object foe which the concert had been promoted.
