ASHBURTON RACING CLUB.

♦ A meeting of the Committee of the ' above was held on Sato relay evening. Present— Messrs O, W. Pnrnoll (Chairman), Denshire, Stltt, 9. Friedlander, Tbomaß, MoOwen, Drs Leahy and Tweed. A letter wes received from Mr Rlobardson rt handicapping. It was resolved that Mr Richardson be appointed handl capper for the Spring Meeting. A deputation from the Caledonian Sooiety, consisting of Messrs Paul Anderson and Mcßne, waited on the Committee re the holding of a race meeting on Boxing Day, which would clask with the Caledonian Sports. It was pointed out to the deputation that the Racine Club were led to believe from a previous deputation that the Caledonian Society were not anxious to retain Boxing Diy for their eportß, and they were also informed that no reply had been received to this Club's letter of March last, on the some subject. It was, therefore, considerably the fault of the Society that the clashing had taken place. The deputation then withdrew. It was resolved that the resolution re holding a raoe meeting on Boxing Day be reeolnded, and that it be polntedouttotheCalodonlan Sooiety that It waa owing to misrepresentation, and no reply being received to thla Club's communication of March last that the date now objected to had been fixed. The Ground Committee reported that tho work of putting the course In order waa just opon completion, and that the present condition was better than it had been for years.
